When I was sharing early drafts of “Small List, Big Results” with my assistant, Peya Robbins, she had quite the reaction.
She realized that for years, she had been avoiding the one strategy that was guaranteed to help her figure out what her audience wanted.
Asking them.
In other words, she was the reason her business wasn’t as successful as it could be.
That stings.
I dug a little deeper with her and other early readers who expressed angst about whether they would actually follow the detailed step-by-step instructions in the book to wake up their network.
They said they’d heard the advice before to do research, but never before had specific steps to follow.
Now that they did, they felt some resistance creep up even though logically this strategy made a lot of sense.
At the root was feeling like they had to admit not knowing something to reach out and ask others for help.
It made them feel like a failure.
Often, these were the same people that were sought out to solve problems within their families and friendship circles.
Reaching out for help made them feel vulnerable.
This mindset keeps their network from sharing support and knowledge and leaves them feeling very much alone as a business owner.
From the outside, it always look like everyone else has it all figured out.
In reality, we’re all doing our best with the information and skills we have.
If we could get the support and knowledge we need, we’d be doing even better.
Our impact on the world would be greater, as would our income.
Your Challenge For This Week
In a word or two, how do you feel about asking for help?
Now, think about a time that you helped someone, how did that feel?
I’m going to guess that asking makes you feel angsty and helping makes you feel awesome.
Your caveats may be that the ask has to feel right for the relationship and I get that.
That said, if you never ask for help, you are denying your friends happiness.
Yes, I went there.
It’s time to stop making it about you and go get the support you need to help even more people.
Start by following the steps in the Wake Up Your Network workbook, which you’ll receive when you download The Big Results Toolkit at www.SmallListBigResults.com.

Business Growth Strategist & Business Coach
As a relationship-based business growth strategist, I work directly with a limited number of self-employed professionals, aka solopreneurs.
WHO YOU ARE:
You want to have a greater impact and increased income. The problem is that there are so many options for how to build your business that you can feel stuck, overwhelmed, and like you’re running out of time.
The reason options are overwhelming is that you’re looking at them as a series of disconnected steps, when to make the most of your time, you need a strategy that connects only the most important and highest impact ones.
You know that if you try to do everything, you’ll accomplish nothing. This means, to achieve your goal, you have to invest in a strategy to put time on your side.
What’s Included:
As a relationship-based business growth strategist, I will work with you to design a year-long plan that consists of three 12-week sprints, each followed by 4 weeks of reflection/assessment, rejuvenation/vacation, and strategic planning. This will allow you to sequence your goals, create momentum, and leverage your limited time.
We can build your plan through a half-day strategy session, a coaching engagement, or a mastermind program.
These are not right for everyone; they’re personalized offerings and are priced accordingly.
