In 2006, I founded a Meetup group, Socializing for Justice (SoJust), that grew to thousands of members and hosted hundreds of events over the next 11 years.

We got so big that I ordered branded BIC pens to give out at our events with the bingo ice-breaker sheets.

Over the years, those SoJust pens spread across the world and started to show up in really random places.

I once went to pay for gas and when the clerk pushed the drawer out for me to sign the receipt a SoJust pen was sitting there – and I was over 100 miles from home!

That got me thinking about how cool it would be to do a documentary about the life of an ordinary pen.

I never did figure out how to make that a reality, but I was reminded about this when I learned about a great idea this week.

The idea was written about on a nonprofit fundraising company website.

I heard about it from one of my former coaching clients because she wrote about it in her newsletter.

A newsletter I encouraged her to start writing.

I met that former client because she was referred by my mentor.

And now, you’re going to benefit from these various connections that allowed the idea to travel from a website I had never heard of – to you.

Ready to learn about this ridiculously simple and effective idea?

Email your list and instead of asking them to share your offer with everyone they know or even with ten colleagues – ask them to invite JUST ONE person to check out your work.

The author of the original article, Madison Gonzalez, calls this the Plus One Method and says “[i]t’s the principle behind the “plus one” invitation.”

There are so many contexts where this would work:

Hosting a Clubhouse room? Ask everyone to click the + to invite just one friend to the conversation.

Hosting a virtual networking event? Ask everyone to invite one person to attend the next one with them.

Looking for referrals? Ask clients for one specific introduction rather than vaguely asking for referrals.

Your Challenge For This Week

Let’s put this into action right now.

You enjoy the lessons and challenges in my weekly missives, right?

I’ve been told by quite a few people it’s one of the only newsletters they regularly open.

Think of one person who would appreciate my weekly email.

Forward this to them and let them know why they should sign up themselves at www.NoMoreBadZoom.com or www.robbiesamuels.com/9ways.

Now, don’t you feel awesome? You should, because you are!

Business Growth Strategist & Business Coach

As a relationship-based business growth strategist, I work directly with a limited number of self-employed professionals, aka solopreneurs.

WHO YOU ARE:

You want to have a greater impact and increased income. The problem is that there are so many options for how to build your business that you can feel stuck, overwhelmed, and like you’re running out of time.

The reason options are overwhelming is that you’re looking at them as a series of disconnected steps, when to make the most of your time, you need a strategy that connects only the most important and highest impact ones.

You know that if you try to do everything, you’ll accomplish nothing. This means, to achieve your goal, you have to invest in a strategy to put time on your side.

What’s Included:

As a relationship-based business growth strategist, I will work with you to design a year-long plan that consists of three 12-week sprints, each followed by 4 weeks of reflection/assessment, rejuvenation/vacation, and strategic planning. This will allow you to sequence your goals, create momentum, and leverage your limited time.

We can build your plan through a half-day strategy session, a coaching engagement, or a mastermind program.

These are not right for everyone; they’re personalized offerings and are priced accordingly.

What might you work on?

In my coaching work with entrepreneurs and solopreneurs, we focus on the areas where you’d like to grow, which may include:
