As I look ahead at 2022, I’ve been trying to think of a word for the year.
My word for 2020 was Revenue – which felt like a horrible joke in March, although it worked out quite well by the end of that very long year.
My word for 2021 was Profit – I realized that earning money is one thing, managing my business so I made a profit was something else entirely.
Being able to buy a home this year is all the evidence I need to know I lived up to that word.
For 2022? The word that keeps coming into my head is Hobby.
That’s right, hobby.
I’ve worked non-stop since March 2020 to re-establish and grow my business as the world shifted dramatically in unexpected ways.
I’m a multi-passionate entrepreneur and I love my work, which is probably why I’m writing this email a 11 PM instead of winding down for bed.
I keep imagining there will be a lull in my calendar, but I keep filling those lulls with new projects.
It reminds me of when I was first hired as a Special Events Manager during what I thought was their busy event season.
A year later I finally had to accept that it was always their busy event season.
The difference now is that I’m the arbiter of my schedule, even though I don’t always act like that’s true.
If I truly desire to work less in 2022, I know I need to replace those hours with something I’m equally passionate about.
Thus, my word of the year is Hobby.
I’m looking for a mix of hobbies that I can do on my own, in a group virtually (or possibly in person), and with my family (especially my 4 & 6-year-olds).
I’ve been asking people about their hobbies lately and a few suggestions have caught my attention:
Gardening (I’m definitely setting up raised beds for a vegetable garden in the spring!)
Tai Chi Sword Form (Dorothy Wilhelm’s influence)
Raising and releasing butterflies (fun with my kiddos)
Stand-up comedy (Dorie Clark’s influence)
Golf (my dad’s influence)

Business Growth Strategist & Business Coach
As a relationship-based business growth strategist, I work directly with a limited number of self-employed professionals, aka solopreneurs.
WHO YOU ARE:
You want to have a greater impact and increased income. The problem is that there are so many options for how to build your business that you can feel stuck, overwhelmed, and like you’re running out of time.
The reason options are overwhelming is that you’re looking at them as a series of disconnected steps, when to make the most of your time, you need a strategy that connects only the most important and highest impact ones.
You know that if you try to do everything, you’ll accomplish nothing. This means, to achieve your goal, you have to invest in a strategy to put time on your side.
What’s Included:
As a relationship-based business growth strategist, I will work with you to design a year-long plan that consists of three 12-week sprints, each followed by 4 weeks of reflection/assessment, rejuvenation/vacation, and strategic planning. This will allow you to sequence your goals, create momentum, and leverage your limited time.
We can build your plan through a half-day strategy session, a coaching engagement, or a mastermind program.
These are not right for everyone; they’re personalized offerings and are priced accordingly.
