GUEST POST WRITTEN BY BIZ BOOK PUB HUB PARTNER JUDY BAKER. Judy is the book strategist dedicated to helping nonfiction authors—especially business owners, coaches, and consultants—actually enjoy growing their impact and income through their books.
When I first introduced Using AI as a Writer to the Biz Book Pub Hub community, I shared how technology could become a creative ally rather than a threat. A year later, that partnership has deepened.
Today, I use AI not only to write, but to design, record, research, and organize every part of my author business. AI has become the honeybee in my hive—pollinating ideas, carrying insights between projects, and helping me create with more joy and less friction. It’s not in charge. I am.
1. Start with Curiosity, Not Control
When we first meet AI, many of us expect instant miracles: “Write my blog post,” “Design my flyer,” “Edit my video.” But AI thrives on clarity and context, not commands. The more specific your input, the more authentic your results.
Instead of delegating, co-create:
- “Brainstorm five titles for a memoir about resilience and recipes.”
- “Design a workshop slide that feels polished yet playful.”
- “Summarize this chapter as if you were my podcast co-host.”
AI mirrors your direction. The clearer your reflection, the better your collaboration.
2. Infuse Your Prompts with Personality
AI listens not only to what you say—but how you say it. Prompts infused with humor, empathy, or warmth yield results that sound unmistakably like you.
Try phrasing your prompts with intention:
“Write as if you’re my witty, book-loving best friend.” “Make this description sound like my brand—encouraging, authentic, and a little sparkly.”
Your tone teaches AI how to serve you better. Personality is your secret algorithm.
3. Tools That Ignite Creativity
Every creator needs a hive of trusted tools that keep ideas flowing and projects humming. These are mine:
- Claude – Ideal for in-depth research and summarizing long material while keeping nuance intact.
- ChatGPT – I have been using ChatGPT every day as a co-writer and strategist for outlines, messaging, and audience clarity. However, I am planning to migrate my work to Claude, which offers more powerful tools such as CoWork and Code.
- Google Gemini – My multitasking assistant within Google Workspace (which I added through a Black Friday deal from Bluehost). Gemini helps plan, brainstorm, and coordinate content calendars.
- NanoBanana – Part of the Google AI suite, yet also accessible through Adobe Creative Cloud. It bridges writing and design, offering layout, color, and visual recommendations that stay true to my brand.
- Canva – The Swiss Army knife of visual creation. I design lead magnets, slides, checklists, and marketing templates in Canva daily. It’s where AI-generated ideas transform into branded, beautiful visuals.
- Gamma – Turns outlines into stunning, ready-to-share presentations for workshops or clients.
- ProWritingAid – My reliable editor for rhythm, clarity, and tone.
- Descript – My go-to for video and podcast editing; it automatically transcribes, trims, and captions content.
- TypingMind – My all-in-one dashboard. With a lifetime Pro license, I can access ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini from one streamlined hub—saving time and subscription costs.
Each tool supports creativity without replacing it. Together they form a symphony of strategy, structure, and style.
4. Beyond Writing: Research, Projects, and Process Building
AI isn’t just for the page—it’s a backstage powerhouse:
- Research: Claude and Gemini condense long reports or transcripts into trusted summaries.
- Design & Production: NanoBanana, Canva, and Gamma visualize ideas and create brand-aligned materials.
- Video & Audio: Descript refines recordings for podcasts, courses, or book trailers.
- Systems & Automation: TypingMind, Notion AI, and GoHighLevel streamline workflows, follow-ups, and launch plans.
When creativity meets structure, you gain focus—and freedom.
5. Keep Your Voice: The Ethical Imperative
Readers connect with you, not the algorithm. Before publishing any AI-assisted content, ask yourself:
- Does this reflect my real tone and values?
- Are the sources accurate and credited?
- Have I added personal insight or a story?
AI provides scaffolding; your wisdom fills the frame. Transparency about your tools builds trust and sets an example for other creators.
6. From Blank Page to Buzz: Applying AI to the BEES Method
In my BEES Model—Brand, Expand, Engage, Signature System—AI plays a supportive role:
- Brand – ChatGPT, Canva, and Gemini help refine messaging, visuals, and taglines.
- Expand – Claude generates new article or podcast ideas.
- Engage – Descript turns stories into video and audio that attract readers.
- Signature System – NanoBanana, Illustrator, Canva, and Gamma help maintain cohesive design across platforms.
The result? Consistency, creativity, and connection—without burnout.
7. Guardrails for a Healthy Creative Hive
A few principles keep an AI partnership productive:
- Verify before publishing. Trust, but edit.
- Protect private drafts. Keep unpublished work secure.
- Respect originality. Don’t imitate another’s creative fingerprint.
- Be transparent. Honesty builds community.
- Stay curious. Tools evolve daily; learning keeps you adaptable.
8. The Sweet Spot: Creativity Meets Collaboration
AI can generate, organize, and accelerate—but it can’t feel awe, wonder, or empathy. That’s your domain.
Used intentionally, AI becomes a creative companion—a worker bee in your hive—helping your ideas pollinate farther and faster. The real magic happens where technology meets humanity, and your story finds its most resonant voice.
