๐ง Listen to my conversation with Curtis Jackson on Living the Dream with Curveball.
I joined Curtis Jackson as a guest on Living the Dream with Curveball podcast to talk about why authors need to think beyond bestseller status and build launch strategies that lead to reviews, revenue opportunities, and long-term business growth.
I shared how my own experience launching four books led me to rethink what a strategic book launch can accomplish.
Instead of treating a book as a one-time product, authors can use it as a business development tool that builds credibility, sparks conversations, attracts prospects, and creates referral opportunities.
One of the big themes of the conversation was this:
๐ A successful book launch is not about chasing a badge. It is about knowing what you want the book to do for your business, then building the strategy, relationships, and follow-up systems to make that outcome more likely.
Curtis also asked me to define success, and I shared one of my guiding ideas:
โก๏ธ Take strategic action without delay.โก๏ธ
That is the mindset I want more authors to bring to their books. Slow down enough to be strategic, then move forward with intention.
We also discussed:
๐ Why bestseller status is often a vanity metric, and what authors should focus on instead
๐ How a launch team can support reviews while also creating a pipeline from the book back to the business
๐ Why 50 written Amazon reviews is a meaningful baseline goal for entrepreneurial authors
๐ How the quantity of reviews, percentage of verified purchase reviews, and review quality can influence book visibility
๐ Why friends, family, or paid review blasts are not a strong foundation for a strategic launch
๐ How bonus content, discussion guides, checklists, and workbooks can help readers take action and stay connected to the authorโs business
๐ Why authors should clarify who the book is for before they write or publish it
๐ How one client generated five new contracts through a reviews-focused launch strategy, even when the review goal was disrupted by platform challenges
๐ Why entrepreneurial authors benefit from being in community with other authors who are thinking strategically about ROI
๐ How Biz Book Pub Hub supports authors through expert resources, networking events, author panels, Kindle Flash Sale campaigns, and the Biz Book Pub Hub podcast
๐ก If you want your book aligned with your business and long-term goals, I'd be happy to chat. Type BRAINSTORM and tell me a bit about your book.
๐ Strategy over vanity. Always.
